My Favorite Way To Hang A Picture

My favorite method for hanging a picture, any picture, is to first trace the outline of the picture on some brown "butcher paper".

You can then tape the brown paper (or whatever) to the wall with paint masking tape so it won't pull off any paint when you remove it. That way you can adjust the paper until you're satisfied that it's where you want the picture.

Figure out where to put your hanger by stretching the wire on the picture's back with your hand toward the top of the frame. Then measure the distance from the top of the frame to the top of the wire and mark the brown paper that distance from the top of the same distance from either side.

If it's a fixed hanger just measure and mark

Then put your nail through the mark or nail your hook to the wall so the bottom of the hook is on the mark.

Remove the paper, hang your picture and step back for an admiring look so your spouse can tell you it's crooked.

If you want to hang several pictures in a group you can do the same thing with multiple pieces of paper trying various arrangements until you see what you like.
